Broadcast Premiere March 30, 2003 on BRAVO TV

A Hollywood heavyweight, Nick Nolte has spent the last decade pursuing roles not for the money, but for the love of the script. PSF portrays his life and career in this one-hour documentary.

Nolte is considered by many of his colleagues to be an actor with integrity. It's an apt description. And it's vital to understanding him. But there are many other words just as important and equally apt. Words like obsessive, generous, demanding, funny, volatile, intelligent, tireless, artistic, sensitive, argumentative, gracious, extreme, likable and reclusive. And this is how he's presented - not in black and white, but in all his shades of gray. The bottom line is: Nick Nolte is simply 100% actor.

Pacific Street principals Joe Sucher and Steve Fischler first met Nick on the set of Scorsese's "Cape Fear," in 1991, while filming a Cinemax documentary on Jessica Lange. They soon were drawn to Nick's easy manner both on and off set. In 1996, they interviewed Nick for a Paramount profile of legendary director Sidney Lumet.

Nick Nolte is a complex man and, no doubt, a versatile actor. Through interviews and clips, Pacific Street paints a portrait of the man that film critic Pauline Kael once called a "Clark Gable with an anguished soul. " But whatever character Nolte decides to tackle, he certainly approaches it with devastatingly serious intent, and for that reason, he's certainly become one of Hollywood's "larger than life" celebrities.

"Bravo Profile Nick Nolte" is a Pacific Street Films' production for the Bravo Cable Network.
